Abstract: A framework for comparing the performance of non-circular, counter flow, microchannel heat exchanger operated on CuO-water nanofluid is presented. Characterization of heat transfer and fluid flow through various non-circular microchannel geometries and properties of CuO-water nanofluid are derived from literature. Results of pumping power through trapezoidal counter flow MCHE are found to be highly sensitive; results of square and trapezoidal channel with aspect ratio of 0.5 are found to be well on thermal effectiveness point of view. On overall performance scale, the Isosceles-triangular shape is found to best, while trapezoidal shape performs worst.
