dc.description.abstract | Environmental chemicals are substances present in the environment as a result of human action, intentional or unintentional. They may be natural or anthropogenic in origin and organic or inorganic (Mücke et al., 1986). This definition covers over 100 000 industrially used substances that are currently listed worldwide, and many preparations and mixtures, amounting altogether to several hundred million tonnes being emitted into the environment each year (Mücke et al., 1986). Several hundred new substances are added annually. | en_US |
