dc.description.abstractA casting Al-Si based alloy providing improved mechanical properties at elevated temperatures while maintaining acceptable mechanical properties at ambient temperature, consists of the following elements (in weight percent): Silicon from 7 to 10, Copper from 2 to 4.5 where Si=6+Cu, Magnesium from 0.1 to 0.7 where 2.5≤(Cu+Mg)≤4.5, Ti from 0.1 to 0.3, Zr from 0.15 to 0.8, Mn from 0.05 to 0.2, Sr from 0.01 to 0.02, Ni less than 0.02, Cr less than 0.01, Fe less than 0.15, and the remainder is aluminium and inevitable impurities.en_US
